Gary, The Devourer of Cakes

Of all the horrors that I've seen, this is the one that keeps me up at night. I was once naive, I thought it all just a funny tradition. I couldn't see the horrible truth hidden underneath. The rhythmic chanting and clapping, the candles, the wishes, the feast, those damned silly hats, it was all part of a ritual. A ritual made to appease something old and hungry and we are the sacrifice. In my searches I found tales about a terrifying creature bent into consuming time itself. The descriptions were vague and no one dared to named it referring to it only by its titles: The devourer of cakes, the blower of candles, the maker of wishes, the birthday boy. It was only after I seek the guidance of the insane that I first heard that dreadful name, Gary. You see, mankind made a deal with Gary. To avoid letting Gary devour time itself we agreed to let it devour our time instead once every year, our birthday . Today, 17 of July, is my turn, for today is my birthday and Gary will come for me.
